My mom took the little guy to a butterfly thing at the botanical gardens the other day and I tagged along to take pictures because, well what else was I going to do?
I have been working on my final project for school and so I took the memory card out of my camera to get all the pics off of it of the food I’m putting on it. By the way, I’m really close to finishing it.
Back at the butterfly thing, I have my camera and they are telling me how the lens will fog up inside, and this woman behind me tells me about the hair dryers in there to help unfog my lens and where to find them. As they were talking to us, I put my hand down and feel the flappy door to my SD card. It was open. That meant one thing, I forgot to put the memory card back in my camera, and it was still in my computer. I said “ugh, I left my SD card at home” and the woman behind me, said “here, I have an extra, take this one”. My mom offered to buy it off the lady, but she said no. I tried several times to offer to mail it back, including giving her my card.
She emailed me to tell me to keep the card. All she ever asked was that I delete any pictures that may be on the card, and that I pay it forward.
Deep down I’ve always believed that people are good. I know we are mostly wired that way, but things happen. We get jaded and turn sour. I, myself, have been known to turn a deaf ear to someone’s slight misfortune. Or thought, “gosh, that’s too bad” and gone on about my day. This woman was not like that, she never even hesitated.
I have mentioned on here, ok ranted-whatever, that society is in a downfall, no one pays attention to anyone anymore and we have lost our empathy. I knew there were good people in this world, and Chris, you are definitely one of them. There were no pictures on this card, and I will pay this forward in many ways. Thank you.
